Individual class and race tiers only tell half the story. The Portal multiplies racial passives with class stat scaling—Warrior STR, Defender VIT, Enchanter INT, Cleric WIS—and bad pairings waste mirror rerolls from Codes Hub. This page ranks high-value race-class combos for launch meta and links full build guides.

Pairing principles

1. Match primary stat — Enchanter wants INT races (Mushroom); Warrior wants Fox AGI/DEX or STR Meat; Defender wants Corrupted Human STR+VIT.
2. Respect 10% rares — Keeping High Elf or Corrupted Human beats forcing B-tier commons.
3. Plan CP sources — Pairings assume Combat Points from gear, skills, achievements, codex.
4. Avoid Job Change thrash — Pick pairing before skill book investment.

Party compositions

• Standard: Defender (Corrupted Human/Human) + Warrior (Fox/Human) + Cleric (High Elf/Human)
• Magic-heavy: Defender (Corrupted Human) + Enchanter (High Elf) + Cleric (Elf)

Codes and pairing plans

Redeem 5KLIKES, THROUGHTHEPORTAL, and 1KLIKES for 11 mirrors, then reroll toward target pairing. RELEASE and 2KLIKES grant zero mirrors but still help gathering and Job Change. Expired codes like CHAPTER2 will not help.

Min-max vs comfort picks

S-tier pairings assume you rerolled or got lucky on 10% rates. A-tier Human Warrior clears all launch story content with less mirror stress. Do not let tier anxiety ruin a character you already enjoy unless you are hardcore optimizing for future PvE ladders.

Re-spec planning

If you are mid-progress on the wrong pairing, decide whether mirrors or Job Change fixes the problem. Mirrors fix race; Job Change fixes class but deletes moves. Never burn both resources in one session without a written plan in the Race-class picker.

Off-meta but fun pairings

Not every character needs Fox Warrior S-tier. Cat Warrior, Wolf Enchanter, or Mushroom Defender can clear launch story content if you invest in Combat Points from gear and codex. Mark these as comfort picks in the picker and revisit tier bands after major balance patches on Updates hub.

Gear alignment reminder

Pairings assume you wear class-appropriate weapons from Equipment and gear. A High Elf Enchanter in a Warrior sword wastes INT scaling even if the pairing tier is S. Sync gear upgrades with the linked build page after you lock race and class.

Raid-style parties at launch run Corrupted Human Defender + Fox Warrior + High Elf Cleric with a flex Enchanter or second Warrior. Read Party composition for seat assignments and pull etiquette before you reroll a healer you never play.
